Evansburg RCMP and the Community Response Team made arrests in unrelated cases on Thursday, Dec. 5.
RCMP say they responded to a call for service on Thursday involving a male suspect in a stolen vehicle. While attempting to steal a second vehicle, the suspect was caught by the owner, who was then threatened with a knife.
Thanks to assistance from the public, police were able to locate the stolen Dodge Dakota and safely bring the suspect into custody.
Police say 18-year-old Whitecourt resident Kaylin Cody Hunter, is now facing several charges, including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Uttering Threats;
- Mischief under $5000;
- Fail to comply with Probation Order.
Hunter was taken before a Justice of Peace and was remanded into custody with his next court date set for Monday, Dec. 9.

On the same day, the Community Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Yellowhead County in connection to an unrelated case.
Mounties say this search warrant was granted following the arrest of 33-year-old Yellowhead County resident, Tyler Mckeller.
Mounties say Mckeller is a known, repeat offender who was wanted on several outstanding warrants stemming from Edson.
Investigators recovered the following items as a result of the search:
- A Breda 710 Magnum Semi Automatic Shotgun;
- A Cooey Model 60 Rifle;
- A stolen GMC Sierra;
- A Honda ATV.
Mckeller is now facing several charges including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime;
- Possession of firearm contrary to Prohibition order;
- Fail to comply with Release Order (x6);
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized.
Mckellar was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next court date has been set for Monday, Dec. 9, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg.
