Barrhead town council has appointed a new chief accounting officer for the Town of Barrhead.
Town officials say Collin Steffes has been selected as the town’s new chief accounting officer and will be assuming the new role and responsibilities as of November 25.
With over 15 years of experience in executive and municipal leadership roles, council believes Steffes will bring a combination of education, experience and leadership to the Town of Barrhead.
Officials say Steffes began his career in land development and municipal construction roles in the private sector before transitioning to the public sector and local government. Steffes spent 12 years with Sturgeon County eventually reaching the position of General Manager of Integrated Growth, where he oversaw all aspects of planning and development services, as well as economic development, engineering and intermunicipal affairs.
He has also spent some time in a senior administrative leadership position within post-secondary education as the General Manager/Chief of Administration of the Student’s Association of MacEwan University, as well as an executive director role with Lamont County and general manager with Westlock County, where he oversees the Planning and Development Department, Engineering, Economic Development and Community Services portfolio.
Steffes says he is excited to begin working with council and the administration team while getting to know more residents and businesses in the community.
Barrhead town council extends its gratitude to former chief accounting officer, Ed LeBlanc, for more than five years of service, and wish him the best in his retirement.
