According to officials with Woodlands County, due to the heavy rainfall over the last few days, a High Streamflow Advisory has been put into effect for many rivers in Woodlands County.
Affected areas include:
- The Athabasca River Basin.
- The Peace River Basin.
- The Paddle River Basin.
- The Pembina River Basin.
- The McLeod River Basin near Rosevear and Whitecourt.
- The Athabasca Mainstem from Windfall to Fort Assiniboine.
- And the Swan Hills Region including:
- The Freeman River near Fort Assiniboine.
- The Sakwamatu River near Whitecourt.
Officials say water levels are expected to rise by 1 to 1.5 metres with levels expected to peak Monday, Aug. 26, or Tuesday, Aug. 27. No widespread flooding is expected, however, residents are being warned that minor flooding and pooling may occur in low-lying areas.
