The Edson and District Public Library will be re-opening its doors on Friday, Aug. 16, following the completion of a $3.7 million renovation.

Library staff say they will be hosting a soft opening between 10:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m., as they work to bring their regular programming back online. Residents are encouraged to come down and check out the newly renovated facility.

Starting Monday, Aug. 19, staff say the library will be operating on temporary hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Saturdays.
Officials have also announced Peyto Exploration and Development Corp. as the sponsor of the facility which will now be known as The Edson and District Public Library – Presented by Peyto Exploration and Development Corp.

Officials say this project was a joint effort between the province of Alberta, Town of Edson, Yellowhead County and the Town of Edson Library Board.

A grand opening celebration is being planned for September.
