Hydrant flushing in Blue Ridge is set to begin on Tuesday, July 16.
Woodlands County officials say hydrant flushing is done in order to remove any residue from the treatment process that may have settled in water lines throughout the system.
Crews say this work may cause tap water to have an odor or appear discolored. Residents whose tap water is affected are being advised to run their cold taps until the water runs clear.
Officials believe this work will take up to two weeks to complete.
