Runners of all ages will be taking over a few roads in the town of Whitecourt on the morning of Saturday, June 1, for the 2024 Run 4 Fun.
Town officials are informing motorists that Sunset Boulevard will be closed from 42 Avenue to the JDA Place parking lot between 7:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Organizers say runners will also be using area roads for part of the 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km, Kid’s marathon Events. Drivers are being asked to exercise extreme caution while in the area.
Road closures for the Run 4 Fun will also have an effect on Whitecourt Public Transit. Town officials say Stops 35, 36 and 37 will be closed between 7:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Instead, riders are being asked to use Stop 38 (Beaver Drive/47 Street/Millar Road) or Stop 1 (Pine Road/Caxton Street) as alternatives.
Residents are encouraged to come out and show support for the athletes participating in all the events.
