According to the Alberta Fire Bans website, due to the recent levels of precipitation, the fire advisories that were in place for the Whitecourt and Edson Forest Areas have been removed. The current wildfire risk level for the Whitecourt and Edson Forest Areas has also been set at low.
Experts say that although there are no advisories currently in effect, it is still possible for a fire to ignite especially in dry and windy conditions. As such, residents are being reminded to ensure that any burning is fully extinguished before leaving the area.
