The Calgary Canucks have completed a four-game sweep of the Whitecourt Wolverines following a 3-2 victory on Wednesday, April 17, at the Ken Bracko Arena to become the 2024 Inter Pipeline Cup Champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Riley Bracko opened the scoring with a goal for the Canucks at 10:51. Cody Pisarczyk and Kenny Sutton were credited with the assists on Bracko’s fifth goal of the post-season.
At the end of the first period, the Whitecourt Wolverines had outshot the Calgary Canucks 12-10, but the Canucks took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Cody Pisarczyk extended the Canucks lead to 2-0 just 2:54 into the second period. Chris Kobelka picked up the lone assist on Pisarczyk’s third goal of the post-season.
The Wolverines managed to get on the board at 8:34, however, with a power play goal from Spencer Rheaume. Joey Melo and Evan Arnold assisted on Rheaume’s sixth goal of the playoffs
At the end of the second period, the Whitecourt Wolverines had outshot the Calgary Canucks 11-6 but the Canucks took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
Wolverines’ forward Evan Arnold then scored just 2:47 into the third period to tie the game 2-2. Joey Melo was credited with the only assist on Arnold’s third goal of the post-season.
Gavin Garland later scored his ninth goal of the playoffs at 10:10 to secure the 3-2 victory for the Calgary Canucks. Chris Kobelka assisted the game-winning goal.
At the end of the third period, the Whitecourt Wolverines outshot the Calgary Canucks 18-8.
Wolverines’ goaltender Nicholas Avakyan made 21 saves on 24 shots.
Canucks’ goaltender Julian Molinaro made 39 saves on 41 shots in support of the Canucks’ championship win.
With this victory, the Calgary Canucks completed a four game sweep of the Whitecourt Wolverines and claimed their tenth league title in franchise history.

The Calgary Canucks will now represent Alberta at the 2024 Centennial Cup in Oakville, Ontario, from May 9 – 10, where they will compete against nine other teams from across the Canadian Junior Hockey League to determine Canada’s 51 National Junior A Champion.
