According to officials with the Town of Whitecourt, as part of the ongoing plan to FireSmart the community, vegetation management work started on Tuesday, Feb. 20, on the west side of Dahl Drive.
Crews say they will be mulching and pulling out dead and downed wood, which will then be turned into firewood and donated to Eastlink Park.
Town officials say FireSmart is a recognized program designed to reduce the risk of wildfire in communities across the Province and the rest of the country. Experts say work done now will reduce future wildfire risk and hazards.
