Mounties say Barrhead Fire Services attended both fires and the blazes were extinguished quickly. No injuries were reported as a result of the fires but despite efforts of the first responders, both churches were extremely damaged. After the initial investigation from the fire examiner, police say it was determined the fires were intentionally set.

RCMP and Barrhead Fire Services continue to investigate the cause of the fires and both are being treated as arson. Mounties note, however, that an older model two-tone truck was observed leaving the scene at The Glenreagh Church and is believed to be linked to the fires.
