Whitecourt residents can expect to see a new school operating in the community starting next week.
Living Waters Catholic Schools is celebrating the opening of their newest school, École St. Anne School, on Sept. 28.
“This school will go from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3,” comments Ashley Floyd, school principal. “We have English and French immersion programming offered here and it’s specifically designed for small children. We have designed it so the kids can dream, play and imagine everyday.”
The concept of the school is quite flexible, Floyd adds.
“There are learning places all over the building, there are garage doors that can open and close as needed so our kids can be regrouped how they need for what their specific learning styles are,” she says. “If you are in Grade 2 and you need some enrichment, we can make sure we have flexible learning spaces where you can do that. Same if you are struggling a little bit, we are able to provide specific strategies throughout the school and it is very flexible.”
The school, which had been under construction for two years, is expecting approximately 350-400 kids this fall, with a maximum capacity of 558.
Officials hope the new school will help address future growth and provide another gathering place in the community.
