The first ever Summer Street Fest, hosted by the Whitecourt Economic Development Committee, should be a really fun event for those looking to have a good time this Saturday.
“Whitecourt’s Economic Development Committee was really passionate about looking at an event that would bring local businesses and the community together,” says Riane Allen, Economic Development Assistant. “We did this by planning a welcoming event that could have businesses come down and do activations and pop-ups. We will have programming not just for children, but for everyone to come down and enjoy themselves.”
Summer Street Fest is a one-day event, running Saturday, Aug. 12 2-9 p.m.. It is meant to celebrate culture, businesses, art, music, and dance in Whitecourt’s core.
Residents can expect the following activities:
- Live entertainment
- Sidewalk Art Challenge
- Small business pop-ups
- Whitecourt Mountain Bike ‘Show & Shine’ and Obstacle Course
- Whitecourt Farmers Market
- Whitecourt Wolverines ‘Brews & Bites’ (a beer garden on the street featuring local brews and hot eats)
- Cornhole Tournament

“There’s going to be tons of stuff to do. We’re going to have the Whitecourt Wolverines hosting ‘Brews and Bites’ which is a beer and food fest. We are going to have amazing performances near our tent stage, plus lawn games and face painting,” adds Allen.
“We are going to have the Whitecourt Mountain Bike Association doing an obstacle course and a ‘show and shine’ too, so we encourage you to bike down with your friends and family and enjoy a really fun event that brings everyone together.”
