A new adult active living facility has been unveiled to the residents of Whitecourt.
Christenson Communities invited Whitecourt residents to a grand opening on Friday and an open house over the weekend.
Martin Long, MLA for West Yellowhead, says it’s beneficial for Christenson Communities to branch out into Whitecourt.
“Inevitably, this helps us keep people in Whitecourt. I am expecting this facility will attract people from outside of Whitecourt. It allows families to know that they basically don’t have to age out of the care available in this community.”
Residents who live in this community will choose a lifestyle built around freedom, health, social wellness, and the opportunity to age in place, the company says.
“I think The Manor is going to have a real positive impact on our seniors and their families and loved ones here in Whitecourt,” comments Whitecourt Mayor Tom Pickard. “Keep families together, keep them in Whitecourt, its a great day, great day for Whitecourt.”
The company says Whitecourt’s downtown south end will offer many choices to suit residents’ future needs.
Greg Christenson, President, comments on the uniqueness of their care homes compared to others.
“We are a home builder that is sort of specialized in villages, condominium-quality apartments and bungalows. Generally, we try to build a variety of homes giving people choice,” he says. “While we are not specialists in care per se, care is very important to us and our families. We are trying to integrate care and retirement subtly into villages.”
Officials with Christenson Communities say The Manor will be a three story, with the bottom two floors being designated supportive living, with seniors care containing 50 studio suites funded by AHS. The top floor will feature 19 independent living, one large bedroom + den living units and two bedroom + den living units.
