Headliners have been announced for one of Whitecourt’s biggest events of the year.
Fefe Dobson, Econoline Crush, Jojo Mason, and Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys will headline Whitecourt’s Party in the Park this summer.
Tom Pickard, Mayor for the Town of Whitecourt, says Fefe Dobson and Econoline Crush will be Friday’s headliners for the event, while Jojo Mason will headline Saturday.
“It’s happening on Friday, June 16, the kick-off to our summer here in Whitecourt,” says Pickard. “We have changed it up a bit. On the Friday night, we’re having the pop and the rock acts and the Saturday night we are going with the country, a slight change from last year.”
Pickard says he is really excited for this year’s country headliner.
“Saturday night, June 17th, it’s Jojo Mason. Some great songs. I am really pumped about Jojo Mason being the headliner. That event all gets started at 2 in the afternoon with a bunch of local acts, food trucks, entertainment throughout the afternoon down at Rotary Park, then Jojo Mason. That is fantastic, really pumped to hear that.”
Andrew Malmquist, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the Town of Whitecourt, notes the other country headliner for Saturday night as well.
“Coming up on that Saturday night we’ve got Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys. The guy is probably 18, 19-years-old. He looks like he is out of the 1940’s, you know, he’s got the attire and his hair’s slicked back and he sounds the part. He’s just stunning. I actually saw him at a showcase last year and between the two showcases that he was at that I know of, I believe he booked like 40 shows out of them.”
On the Friday of that weekend it was also revealed that Fefe Dobson and Econoline Crush will be the Friday headliners for the event.
“Fefe Dobson, four consecutive top 10 radio singles, two Juno award nominations, we are really excited to have this act come to Rotary Park in June,” notes Mayor Pickard. “And as well on the rock side, we have Econoline Crush the other act on that evening. Two Juno award nominations, their name has been around for a while and I am certainly looking forward to that act as well on the Friday night.”
“We’re super excited to have both Fefe Dobson and Econoline Crush. This is actually our 15th Party in the Park,” adds Malmquist.
