After executing a search warrant this week, Barrhead RCMP, with the assistance of Swan Hills RCMP recovered over 350 grams of various amounts of drug along with a list of other illegal items.
On March 15, 2023, Barrhead RCMP, with the assistance of Swan Hills RCMP, Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and Parkland RCMP Police Dog Service, executed a search warrant at two residences in the Town of Barrhead. Mounties say the detachment had been investigating drug trafficking activity at these addresses for several months.
Police say the searches resulted in the seizure of the following:
- Over 350 grams of a variety of drugs including suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine
- Over 70 cartons of illegal cigarettes
- 5 firearms and large quantities of ammunition
- 11 computers which had been stolen from Barrhead Composite High School
- Over $2500 cash
- A stolen bicycle
Randy Blake Wiebe, 65, a resident of Barrhead, has been charged with eight offences, including:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possess Cigarettes Not Marked for Tax Paid Sale
- Firearms offences (x4)
Nicole Sandra Bombay, 26, a resident of Barrhead, has been charged with six offences, including:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possess Cigarettes Not Marked for Tax Paid Sale
- Firearms offences (x2)
RCMP say a third suspect, a 70-year-old female, also a resident of Barrhead, has also been arrested and charges are pending.
Wiebe was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Barrhead provincial court on March 21, 2023. Mounties note Bombay was released on conditions to appear in Barrhead provincial court on March 21, 2023.
