The Town of Edson is joining many communities across Alberta partaking in the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program Rural Renewal Stream (AAIP).
On Sep. 6, Edson town council approved an endorsement letter for the Town of Edson to become a designated community under the program.
AAIP is an economic immigration program that nominates individuals for permanent residence in Alberta. Through this partnership, the Whitecourt Economic Development team will work with local businesses and industry to attract and recruit newcomers, and collaborate with organizations to support their move to Edson.
A Rural Renewal Stream candidate is described as a foreign national who does not have permanent residence or Canadian citizenship. As such, qualifying candidates may be recruited from within Alberta, Canada or outside of Canada.
Officials say the Rural Renewal Stream is designed to empower rural communities, employers, and settlement-providing organizations to recruit and retain foreign nationals to live, work, and settle in their communities.
