Rotary Park in Whitecourt will soon be home to a new attraction.
At the Town of Whitecourt’s July 18 meeting, town council approved the location of a Jumbo Jumper.
A Jumbo Jumper is a massive air pillow for kids to bounce on. The one for Rotary Park is 67 feet by 35 feet in size.
The location is directly south of the playground at Rotary Park. The site was chosen as it is close to a power source, and will have minimal impact on the Town’s master plan for the park, say Town officials.
Whitecourt mayor Tom Pickard says we can thank Councillor Paul Chauvet for the addition.
“He was at a conference, and they were promoting them, and he said, ‘Man, that would be a great addition to Rotary Park,’” explains Pickard.
Pickard agrees that it will be good for Rotary Park.
“The young people will certainly have a lot of fun with that,” says Pickard.
The costs of the Jumbo Jumper are being covered through a sponsorship deal with Energy Transfer Canada.
The Town expects the Jumbo Jumper to be installed by the end of summer.
