Taxes are going up in Woodlands County.
At Woodlands County council’s May 25, 2022 meeting, County council set the tax rates for 2022.
The tax rate for residential land and farmland was set at three point two per cent.
The rate for non-residential land was set by 12.5 per cent.
Taxes went up at a rate of three per cent. As administration noted in the tax bylaw, Woodlands County adopted a five-year economic recovery plan in 2019. The plan called for a tax increase of three per cent per year. The County is in year three of the plan.
Before adopting the tax rates, Councillor David Kush took a moment to acknowledge that, given the economy and inflation, no one wants taxes to go up right now. But it needed to be done.
“Where we are, we are not even coming in where the rate of inflation is at this point,” explained Kush. “We still have to operate the municipality.”
The complete tax schedule can be found on the Woodlands County website.
