Work continues on a new development coming to Blue Ridge
At Woodlands County council’s April 13 meeting, council set a public hearing on the new development for their May 11 meeting.
The development, to be called Blue Ridge Country Estates, had its outline plan approved at the County’s March 17 meeting. The next step, which is the subject of the public hearing, is to rezone the land from reserve district to country residential district. That way, it can be developed into a maximum of 12 residential parcels.
The meeting will being at 9:45 a.m. at the Woodlands County offices in Whitecourt.
Woodlands County remains in good financial shape.
At Woodlands County council’s April 13 meeting, council received its 2021 audited financial statements from Jeff Alliston of Metrix Group. Alliston reported that the County’s ending balances are trending in the right direction, and are making progress in the County’s financial recovery plan.
The 2021 audit findings report found no significant issues with the County’s financial processes.
Assessments are going up in Woodlands County
At the April 13 meeting of Woodlands County council, council received a summary of the residential and non-residential assessments in the county from Accurate Assessment Group (AAG).
When the 2021 assessments were compared with the year prior, they showed an increase of three per cent in overall assessment value.
Troy Birtles of AAG indicated that inflation was the biggest factor in the increase.
