Woodlands County is getting ready for the dusty roads of summer.
At County council’s March 17 meeting, the County updated its dust control policies for 2022.
Before May 1, County residents can apply for dust control.
The County operates the program on a full cost recovery basis. The program will cost an applicant $425 for 100 metres, $750 for 200 metres, and $4.25 per metre for any application over 100 or 200 metres.
Those who wish to apply for dust control can do so at the County’s website, woodlands.ab.ca.
More development could be coming to the hamlet of Blue Ridge.
At Woodlands County council’s March 17 meeting, the County scheduled a public hearing for the lot at SE 26-59-10-W5M, which is in Blue Ridge.
The land is currently zoned as reserve district, but the County is planning to rezone the land to direct control.
The applicant currently uses the lot as a trucking business and a mechanical shop where large equipment is repaired. County officials say rezoning it as direct control will allow them to keep using it for that purpose, and retain that use should they wish to sell in the future.
As the current use is not a typical use for a reserve district land, say County officials, the rezoning will bring the business into compliance with the County’s zoning laws.
The public hearing has been scheduled for County council’s next regular meeting on April 13, 2022.
