The Whitecourt Wolverines could be finishing the first round of the AJHL playoffs this weekend.
The Wolverines currently lead the Bonnyville Pontiacs 3-1 in their best-of-seven series.
The Wolverines could take it in Game 5 on March 11, which goes down in Bonnyville.
If the series goes to Game 6, action returns to the Scott Safety Centre in Whitecourt at 7:30 on March 13.
Over in the GMHL, the quarter-finals are wrapping up.
In the GMHL, the quarter-finals are best-of-three, which means the Edson Eagles are on the brink of elimination.
The Eagles’ series against the Mackenzie Mountaineers is tied at one game each. The Eagles took Game 1 on March 6, 8-2. The Mountaineers took Game 2 on March 9, beating the Eagles 10-7.
Game 3 goes March 11 at the Edson and District Leisure Centre.
Meanwhile, the Fox Creek Ice Kings are heading to the semis. The Ice Kings swept their series against the Slave Lake Icedogs.
Game 1 was March 8, where the Ice Kings won 5-3. Game 2 was March 10, the Ice Kings coming out on top 9-1.
In the semi-finals, the Ice Kings will face the High Prairie Red Wings in a best-of-five series. The Red Wings ended the regular season at number one in the West Division, and got a bye straight to the semis. The Red Wings had a near-perfect record of 40-1-0.
The semi-final schedule has not been finalized yet, but is slated to start on March 15.
In the CAJHL, the Barrhead Bombers have a light weekend as the regular season starts winding down.
Just one game is on tap, as the Cold Lake Aeros pay a visit to the Barrhead Agrena on March 12. Cold Lake remains number one in the league, with 64 points and a record of 32-4-0.
The Bombers remain in second-last place with 23 points and a record of 9-25-5.
The CAJHL regular season wraps up at the end of March, with their playoffs being a tournament in Cold Lake from April 5-9.
