The Town of Edson is increasing its utility rates for 2022.
At the Town’s Dec. 7 meeting, council approved the new rates. Starting on Jan. 1:
- Water rates will be going up by ten cents to $1.31 per cubic metre.
- Sewer rates will be going up by twelve cents to $1.50 per cubic metre.
- Waste collection rates will be going up by 37 cents to $18.22 per month
- The residential recycling fee will be going up by 20 cents to $10.20 per month
- The commercial recycling fee will be going up by 40 cents to $17.40 per month
In a statement, the Town of Edson says they run their utilities on a cost-recovery basis, and these changes are required as operational costs increase.
These adjusted rates were part of the Town’s interim budget as passed on Nov. 25. The rates may be adjusted when the Town of Edson reviews and passes their adjusted budget in the spring of 2022.
