The Town of Edson has voted not to proceed with a mask bylaw.
Town council held an emergency meeting about the matter on Sept. 2, but decided not to hold the final vote until their regular meeting on Sept. 7. This was to give council more time to study the matter.
But, the debate was rendered moot when the province decided to bring in a province-wide mask mandate on Sept. 4.
Edson Town Council has approved the Vison Park Revitalization Plan.
Vison Park is more than 35 years old, and is host to 24 baseball diamonds. It was originally built by the Kinsmen Club of Edson, but fell into disrepair in the 2010s as the Kinsmen could no longer maintain it.
The Kinsmen turned the park over to the Town of Edson in 2018. Recent pipeline development near the park in 2020 disturbed the land, sparking the Town to develop the revitalization plan.
Some of the proposals in the plan include reducing the number of ball diamonds to 16, and building a better storm water drainage system.
When the Town of Edson will begin work on the plan is entirely dependent on finding the funds in the budget, according to officials.
The Vison Park Revitalization Plan can be found on the Town of Edson website.
