Woodlands County is making some adjustments to the Whitecourt Airport.
At their recent council meeting, council reclassified three road allowances at the airport as runway aprons.
County officials say reclassifying the road allowances means they can now close off the roads and prevent people from driving on the runways.
The reclassification turned out to be a lengthy process, as first the roads had to be officially closed.
Councilor Ron Govenlock worried the reclassification might slow development at the airport.
Administration, however, assured council the changes wouldn’t affect development, noting it was just something that needed to be done to satisfy the various levels of government.
