Mayerthorpe RCMP had their hands full with an intoxicated individual recently.
On Aug. 11, Mayerthrope RCMP responded to a report of an intoxicated male near the town of Sangudo. Reports said the male was acting aggressively and was trespassing on private property.
Upon arriving, witnesses reported that the male had entered a residence and then left on foot. He was quickly found in the backyard of a neighbouring property and was arrested with little incident, police say
The owner of the property where the male was arrested then realized his residence had been forcibly entered and there was damage to the front door. Evidence at the scene linked the intoxicated male to the break and enter and he was subsequently charged.
Matthew Donahue of Sangudo has been charged with break and enter to a residence, and two counts of mischief to property under $5,000.
While in custody, Donahue also damaged an RCMP vehicle and the holding facility. After his bail hearing, Donahue was released from custody, and he is scheduled to appear in Mayerthrope Provincial Court on Sept. 9.
Mayerthorpe RCMP would like to thank all the members of the community who assisted in this matter.
