Southern Belle: “Southern belle” is a term used to describe women from the South with distinct characteristics that give them a warm, enchanting and inviting air. Southern belles are polite, respectful, well-kept and use certain words in their speech. Though not from the south, this is exactly what comes to mind when people think of Nash North Records Country Recording Artist; Jade Naraine, who’s dream is to grace the American Music award stages.
2020 was a busy year for the Toronto born singer-songwriter, who worked on a lot of new music with different writers and producers; including CCMA award winning producer Jeff Dalziel. This hard work will continue into 2021, with the release of some new music. After releasing the Country version of ”Princess” which many radio and industry professionals stated was on the upper end of what they receive from independent artists, Jade released “Back To My Dream” which charted on Music Row for the first time Aug 19, 2020 at #150 “To have the support of American country radio, carries special meaning to me, especially with the song “Back To My Dream” which perfectly shows what I went through, from abusive parents, bad men, trauma, depression, a career halt, to going back to my dream.”
Jade says that her favourite part about being a singer is writing. She likes to tell stories through her music and use meaningful lyrics and rich instrumentation, to move her listeners. Her sound is both traditional to country roots, and new.
Jade is a sexual assault and sexual harassment survivor, who had dealt with other unfortunate adversities but for her, Country music was her saving grace. Jade decided that she was going to make lyrics with uplifting messages and vulnerable lyrics about her journey going from a weak, broken woman to a strong woman, after being subjected to multiple instances of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Jade decided, that rather than letting her adversities defeat her, to transform them from something bad, into something good, a story to tell, to inspire strength in others who may be going through the same. After being subject to a career halt that lasted just over five years, due to an unlawful holding of her Passport, Jade did her best not to let the interference hold her back. She prepared new music and worked on her craft.
